Mr. Donald Lee "Don" Brentana, age 70, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007. He was born January 3, 1937 in Muskegon to the late Charles and Thelma (Ward) Brentana. Don was employed for over 20 years at the Muskegon Piston Ring Company. He retired at age 62 from Transmatic in Holland. Don was currently employed part-time with Lakeshore Document Services and Chamber Homes. Don was a 38-year dedicated member of the Muskegon Masonic Lodge #140 F A past president, he served many local and regional boards. In May of 1969, he received his Master Mason Proficiency. He currently served as the Deputy District Instructor. He always answered the call to be an active brother. Don was a faithful Red Cross blood donor, receiving his 17-gallon award in 2006. He was actively involved with the MDA "Fill the Boot" Program and volunteered as Smokey the Bear for fire prevention activities. Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, having morning coffee with "The Boys," and exploring the United States in his beloved motor home with Char and his family. Don was the loving husband of 40 years to Charlene; beloved dad of 4 children, Jyl Brentana of Waukesha, WI, Kelli (Robert) Send of Sussex, WI, David Brentana and his friend, Susan, and Daniel (Julie) Brentana, both of Muskegon; precious and fun-loving grandpa to Matthew and Joshua Crampton, Kasey, Ryan, and Patrick Send, Kyle and Katie Brentana, Emily and Nicholas Brentana, and a 10th granchild expected in October; 2 brothers, James (Reho) Brentana of Muskegon and his twin brother, Ronald (Dorothy) Brentana of Grand Rapids; 1 sister, Arlene (Henry) Herbst of Muskegon; and a large extended family, as well as many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by twin siblings, Ron and Nina. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 10am Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene (2270 S Mill Iron Rd.) with Pastor Thomas A. Parks officiating. INTERMENT will follow at Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Don's family will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210 The Masonic Service will be conducted at 6pm Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the MDA "Fill the Boot" Program or the Shriner's Cripple Children's Fund.
