Mrs. Joyce M. DeWitt, age 64, went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 26, 2006. She was born in Spring Lake, MI on September 6, 1941 to Lester G. & Ruth (Hyink) Droppers & married Jerry C. DeWitt on May 30, 1964 in Spring Lake, MI. She was a graduate of Grand Haven High School, 2 years at Hope College & 3 years at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where she graduated as a RN. Mrs. DeWitt formerly worked as the first nurse for Dr's Harvey & Rotz, Director of Nursing at Mercy Glenn & worked at rehab at Mercy Hospital until retirement. She formerly sang with a Ladies Sextet, taught a girls Sunday School Class, worked with Pioneer Girls, taught Good News Clubs & attended Bible Study Fellowship. Currently she taught Ladies Bible Study, weekly Bible Study at Oakcrest, worked in AWANA, made quilts for Canadian Sunday School Mission & occasionally played organ & piano at church. Mrs. DeWitt was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. SURVIVORS Husband, Jerry C. DeWitt; 3 daughters, Janet (Michael) Bronson of Jackson, MI, Julie (Michael) Emmons of Ferrysburg & Jill Mueller of Ferrysburg; 3 grandchildren, Eric Michael & Samuel Scott Emmons & April Marie Mueller; mother-in-law, Gertrude DeWitt; 1 brother, Arlan Droppers of Grand Haven; 3 sisters & brothers-in-law, Charles (Lou) DeWitt of Birmingham, AL, Alan (Marlene) DeWitt of Ferrysburg & Glen (Gail) DeWitt of Fruitport. She was preceded in death by her parents. SERVICE Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 7:00 PM at Lakeshore Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Muri officiating. Interment at Spring Lake Cemetery. VISITATION Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lakeshore Baptist Church & Wednesday, 4-7PM at Lakeshore Baptist Church. MEMORIAL: Lakeshore Baptist Academy Scholarship Fund.
