Dennis Lee Lewis

Dennis Lee Lewis, 85, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, June 27, at Trinity Hospital in Muskegon.

Born on December 18, 1940, in Mankato, Minnesota, Dennis graduated from Whitehall High School in 1958 and later served in the United States Navy. In the 1980s, he pursued HVAC training at the University of Tennessee and spent roughly three decades working in the field, including service with the Miami Sun Sentinel. Earlier in his career, he worked at Cordis Dow, contributing to the manufacture of artificial kidneys.

Dennis married the former Jacqueline Nye on November 6, 1971 and she preceded him in death in 2011. Dennis was a member at Twin Lake Community Church and had ties to the White Lake Eagles. He loved fishing, traveling, cooking, watching birds, and sharing meals with family. Above all, he cherished time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children John (Lucy) Lewis and Laura Lewis-Cox; stepchildren William (Theresa) Becker and Kathy Becker; grandchildren Joshua (Jessica) Lewis, Jacob (Samantha) Lewis, and Jordan Lewis; his brother Leslie (Bernell) Lewis; and nieces and nephews through Leslie's family. He is also remembered by many step-grandchildren and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Jacqueline (Nye) Lewis in; his son Jeffrey Lewis; and his grandson Joel Lewis.

In accordance with Dennis's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside placement of his cremated remains will occur at Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall, where he will be laid to rest beside Jacqueline.
