The baby boom found families moving into the suburbs, and with women entering the workforce in droves, the introduction of the TV dinner was a welcome addition. While Elvis was ushering in his career, the U.S. Supreme Court ushered out segregation in all U.S. public schools. People welcomed television programs such as Father Knows Best, and at a time when Ellis Island closed its doors, Rock Around the Clock hit the airwaves by storm. Amidst these exciting times, a most welcome event in the lives of Richard and Barbara (Dault) Faucher of Muskegon, Michigan included the October 14, 1954 birth of their precious son, Dennis Richard. The second of three children, Dennis grew up in their family home on Chippewa Drive in the community of Norton Shores with his older sister, Suzette, followed by the addition of his younger brother, Ronald. His father worked at the Walt Plant Appliance Store, and his mother remained at home as a dedicated and devoted homemaker. He received his early education at Lincoln Elementary School down the road from their home, and North Shore Junior High before attending Mona Shores High School. He played saxophone in his high school band and even then demonstrated his great social flair in the company of good friends. Travel and family vacations were a big part of Dennis' youth.
