Delores Fay Rollenhagen

Delores Fay (Young) Rollenhagen, age 93, of Fruitport, MI passed away on January 12, 2024 with a loving family at her side. Delores was raised in Holton, MI graduating from Holton High School making lifelong girl friends called her "club girls". In September of 1950 she married Richard (Dick) Rollenhagen and they raised 5 children. They established a wonderful home in Fruitport where she was loved by many neighbors and friends. She was a homemaker and worked in the kitchen at Fruitport Schools for many years enjoying the interaction with students, staff and her coworkers. When Dick took a job with the MI DNR they moved several times to state parks around MI. They enjoyed the outdoors and meeting people. In retirement they built their dream home-a log cabin near Lake Michigan in Montague and enjoyed nearly 20 years there. They then moved back to Fruitport to be closer to children and grandchildren whom they loved on greatly. Delores was always busy raising her family, knitting, crocheting, gardening and spending time with family and friends. The family spent time camping and had adventures in a lifeboat. Traveling was something Dick and Delores enjoyed very much. Some of their travels were to Germany, Alaska, and her bucket list item to walk the Great Wall of China. She was a member of the Holton Methodist Church.

Grand children tell of great memories of traveling with grandpa and grandma and many sleepovers with cousins especially at the log house and having popcorn at the end of the day from the big red popcorn bowl.

Her love and dedication for her family was undying and she helped guide her family through life's challenges. Delores will be missed and remembered by her children, Jim (Sandy) Rollenhagen of Coopersville, Pam (Doug) Joslyn of Spring Lake, Mark (Carrie) Rollenhagen of Florence,WI, Deb (Steve) Wallace of Muskegon, and Brian Rollenhagen of Fruitport. 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and her 1st great great grandchild born 5 days after her passing. Brother Calvin (Judy) Young. Many other family and nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband Dick, her parents, Paul and Greta Young, brother Forrest Young, grandson Steven Wallace, great grandson Indiana Wallace and great granddaughter Moriah Meyer.

A family celebration is planned for both Dick and Delores in the spring.
