Deborah "Deb" Kay Golightly Council, 71, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2026, following a sudden illness.

She was born April 17, 1954, in Shelby, Michigan, to Eugene and Virginia (Rash) Golightly. Deb graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School in 1972 and earned a degree in office management from Baker College. She worked in office administration for several organizations, including Rander's Engineering, Holly's Green Gardens, and Habitat for Humanity, and also served as a substitute teacher in local school districts.

Deb enjoyed reading, especially mystery novels, and was active in her family's activities. In her earlier years, she volunteered her time to Project Literacy empowering others with the gift of reading. She spent many years supporting her son's Little League team as a scorekeeper and statistician. She also volunteered at community events, including the Irish Music Festival, Plumb's Family Picnics, and with LST 393 Veterans Museum.

On April 14, 1973, she married Verlie Council. They shared nearly 53 years together. Deb enjoyed riding with him as a member of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) Chapter 1962 & was a member of the White Cloud Eagles.

Deb is survived by her husband, Verlie Council; her children, Patrick (Kelli) Council and Terra (Josh) Wiseman; her grandchildren, Karen, Dylan, Robert, Haley, Anna, Devin, Josie Council, Abigayle (Nick) Schneider and Zachary (Melanie) Wiseman; and her great-grandchild, Everett Wiseman. She is also survived by her siblings, Andy Golightly, Rick Golightly, and Rhonda Connelly, as well as her sisters-in-law, Betty (Albert) Ridgell, Wilma Hudson, and Vergie Council, and her beloved shitzu Katie. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at The Clock Funeral Home. Memories may be shared at www.clockfuneralhome.com.
