Mr. David Andrew Walker, age 56, died peacefully at his home on Duck Lake Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2007. He was born June 19, 1950 in Muskegon to Robert Gladstone & Ruth Eva (Adkins) Walker and had been a life resident of the area. David was a 1968 graduate of Muskegon High School and then of Western Michigan University. Following graduation he taught at Muskegon Heights High School for 6 years and then taught business and marketing for 22 years at Mona Shores High School, until his retirement one year ago. He was a State Runner-Up as a Golden Gloves Boxer; and loved Duck Lake, sailing, traveling and fishing with his children and family. He had a passion for flowers, especially petunias; and had an unbelievable love of life. David was a problem solver for many. He often quoted the saying "What the mind of a man can conceive and believe, the mind of a man can achieve-with a positive mental attitude." David was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church and was very involved with D.E.C.A. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife, the former Janet Marie Walukonis, whom he married August 11, 1972; 2 children, Susan Marie and David Andrew Walker, Jr.; his mother, Ruth Walker; 1 sister, Sandra (Orin) Wolters of Norton Shores; 2 special nieces, Lisa (Andrew) Hoffman and Jennifer (Robert III) Cross; and by several more nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Jackie Walukonis; and many family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gladstone Walker on March 9, 1999 and by his brother, Bob Walker on June 19, 2006. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION with David's family will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 where The Rosary will be prayed at 4PM.
