David C. Carlson

David C. Carlson CARLSON, DAVID C. Twin Lake, MI. Mr. David C. Carlson, age 67, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006. He was born in Manistee, MI, on July 7, 1938 to Theodore and Ruth (Raatz) Carlson. Dave graduated from Manistee High School in 1956 and joined the Merchant Marines, sailing on all the Great Lakes aboard the steamer W.E. Fitzgerald, a selfloader, Manistee Coal Boat for 7 years as a A B Wheelsman. In 1964 he joined the Manistee Fire Department and made this his career for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He really enjoyed his retirement and was a life long avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife, the former Frances Marek whom he married in June 1997; daughter, Kathy ( Joe ) Boyle of Gibsonton, FL.; four step-daughter, Laurie ( Rick ) Rogalla, Anne ( Jim ) Quinn, Michelle, ( Larry ) Mortenson, Kim ( Eric ) Anderson; eight step-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Hayes; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Nels. According to Dave's wishes there will be no visitation and a private family service. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery, Freesoil, MI.
