David Charles Bliss, age 89, a lifelong resident of North Muskegon and distinguished business leader, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Harbor Terrace.

Born in Muskegon on April 27, 1937, David graduated from North Muskegon High School, where he was a proud three-sport athlete and first baseman for the Norse. He later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University in 1960. His impressive career began at Brunswick Corporation, followed by finance positions at OTT Chemical and Story Chemical. in 1974, he was named CFO of Quality Stores and in 1986 rose to the positions of President & CEO prior to his retirement in 2002. His leadership was recognized by Marquis Who's Who, and he served as president of the MRAA.

David was deeply committed to his community. He served as past president of both the Muskegon Country Club and the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. He also generously gave his time as a board member for the YFCA of Muskegon, the North Muskegon School Board, and Community Shores bank. In 2012, he and his late wife, Sandra, were instrumental in establishing the "Muskegon Together Rising Up" lighting installation downtown. An avid golfer and boater, David loved spending summers on Lake Michigan and winters in Bonita Springs, Florida.

He is reunited in death with his beloved wife, Sandra, and his brother, Christopher Bliss. He is survived by his sons, Roger (Mary Beth) Bliss of Elk Rapids and Steve (Sarah) Bliss of North Muskegon; grandchildren, Lauren (Dustyn) Corpe, Lindsay Bliss, Kristen (Sean) Deering, Patrick (Shauna) Nolan, Daniel Nolan and Andrew Bliss; and seven great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Josie, Brooks, Theo, Lily, Charlotte, and Lucas.

A celebration of David's life will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 12 noon until 3:00 PM at the Muskegon Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice. Please visit www.clockfuneralhome.com to sign the guestbook or leave a memory.
