Darlyne Carol Luce

Darlyne Carol (Schmalzriedt) Luce, age 83, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. She was born May 6, 1925, to Edward W. and Marie (Stauch) Schmalzriedt in Detroit, MI. Darlyne married Raymond G. Luce on October 16, 1948, in Detroit, MI. She was a member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Detroit and was involved with the Ladies Aid Society. She has been a member at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grand Haven for the past 13 years. She was a 60 year licensee with the Michigan Funeral Director Association, involved with the Girls Scouts of America, and a member of the Rachkam Symphony Chorus of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Darlyne also loved working needle point and reading Christian novels. She is survived by her loving husband Raymond; her two daughters, Margo (Robert) Martin of Indianapolis, IN and Cindy (Rich) McAuliffe of Grand Rapids, MI; five grandchildren, Kira (David) Flannery, Nathaniel (Julie), Patrick, David, and Rebecca McAuliffe; and great-grandson, Brian Flannery. Darlyne was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Schmalzriedt. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 25, 2008, 1-5pm, with a prayer service at 4:30 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. The Funeral Service for Darlyne will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Detroit with Pastor John Urvan officiating. Visitation with the family at Holy Cross will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Alzheimer's Association-West Michigan region or Parkinson's Association of West Michigan.
