Daniel Francis Meier

Meier, Daniel Francis Muskegon, Michigan Daniel Francis Meier, age 81, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, March 3, 2023. He was born in Muskegon, MI on June 13, 1941 to Francis "Bub" & Dorothy (Schreiber) Meier and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1959 where he was on the football team. Dan married the former Pauline Piper on July 20, 1963 and remained married for 60 years. Mr. Meier had been employed as a welder for 40 years for the Consumers Power Company at the B.C. Cobb Plant. Dan loved spending time with his children and grandchildren whether it was at the beach, fishing trips, or a sporting event. He loved hunting and was a member of the Bowman's Club. Dan took great pride in hosting family and neighbors for his famous perch fish fry. If Dan wasn't out hunting or fishing you could find him at the top of the hill working in his garage. He was also a big supporter of Muskegon Big Red Football and had season tickets for many years in addition to following the team to their playoff games through the years. A lifelong friend to many, he will be remembered for his storytelling, solid handshake, big laugh, and positive attitude. Dan is survived by his wife, Pauline Meier; daughter, Sandra (Al) Midlam of Charlotte, NC; 2 sons, Thomas (Alison) Meier of Grand Haven, Joseph (Sara) Meier of Grosse Pointe; grandchildren, Jack Midlam, Samantha Midlam, Ivy Meier, Theo Meier, Jacob Meier, Lucas Meier; sister-in-law, Becky Meier. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Meier.
