Curtis Assink

Curtis Assink passed away at home Monday, April 14, 2008 at 61 years old. He was born in Muskegon on March 26, 1947 to Fred Assink and Harriet Assink (Southland), and graduated in 1965 at North Muskegon High School. He worked for Continental Motors and later for Ford Motors. He had many interests and passions like golfing, bowling, playing pool, fishing, and hunting. He was a horse racing fan. He was a loving father and a funny, caring, compassionate person. He was funny and known for his practical jokes and entertaining his children and grandchildren with funny animal stories and puppet shows. He loved animals and the beauty of nature. He will be greatly missed by all. May he rest in peace with God. He married Vicki Stansberry (McGruder) of Muskegon. They had a daughter, Shannon (Mac) Zerlaut (Assink) of Holton. Later he met his former life companion for 27 years, Sandra Rich of Jackson. They have one son, Tony (Jennifer) Rich of Jackson and one daughter, Melissa (Ken) Kolasa (Rich) of Ypsilanti. He is survived by the above and also 3 grandsons, Avery, Brian, and Jefferson of Jackson; 2 step-grandchildren, Eric Zerlaut and Amy Byrnes (Zerlaut); 3 step-great-granddaughters; 1 brother, Norman Assink of North Muskegon; 1 brother-in-law, Jerry (Wanda) Rocker of Graun; and niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Harriet Assink; brother, Ronald Assink of North Muskegon; sister, Wanda Rocker (Assink) of Graun, and sister-in-law, Barb (Norman) Assink of North Muskegon. Per his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2008, 4-6p.m, at Chas. J. Burden & Son, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson.
