Constantine Donald Harakas

Donald Harakas, age 94, of North Muskegon, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was born on July 14,1932 in Toronto, Canada, to John Harakas and Alice (Stanborough). Don served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 as a radioman achieving the rank of Petty Officer First Class. On June 17,1956, he married the former Cleo Cheones in Muskegon, and they shared 67 wonderful years together until her passing in 2023.

After moving to Muskegon, Don earned a degree in accounting and business from Ferris State University. His career began at Burroughs Corporation before he became the Vice President of Data Processing for National Lumberman's Bank. In 1976, he became an entrepreneur purchasing The Clothes Basket laundromat. He later founded Apparelmaster- Muskegon, a uniform and textile rental company he operated as a family business until his retirement.

Don was a very family- oriented man who was described by his children as an excellent dad. He enjoyed using his computer, playing cribbage, and had an HO model train set. He and his late wife also enjoyed walking the Muskegon Channel at sunset, where they would often meet up with a group of friends.

Don is survived by his daughters, Lori (Eric) Anderson and Nancy (Tom) Andersen; grandchildren, Jeremy (Soizic) Anderson, Julie (Ray) Maas, Joseph (Hannah Erdman) Andersen, Scott Andersen, and Alexis (Blair) Shaw; great granddaughters, Arlyn Maas, Aven Maas, and Madeleine Anderson; his brother, James Harakas, his brother-in-law, Mel Schnepp, his sister-in law, Connie Katsaros and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cleo; his parents; his sister, Maria Schnepp, a sister-in-law, Avanthea Eliopoulos and brothers-in law, Daniel Eliopulos and Nick Katsaros.

A private family graveside service will be held.
