Cobe Sanchez

Cobe Clark Sanchez came into the world with the love and support of many, many family members. He was born to Brooklyn Sanchez and Karim Clark on January 3, 2009 at Spectrum ~ Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Along with his parents, Cobe was embraced with tenderness and tears by his extended family of grandparents and aunts and uncle. Cobes parents had met in the fall of 2007 when Brooklyn was about to enter the 9th grade and Karim was going into 10th grade at Orchard View High School. Both active in sports, Karim played football and was a member of the wrestling team, while Brooklyn played snare drum in the marching band and was on the basketball team. In fact, it was for basketball tryouts during the week of Thanksgiving, that Brooklyn went to get a physical check-up and was surprised to learn she was 26 weeks pregnant. That set in motion a series of doctor appointments and prenatal care. An initial ultra sound of the fetus revealed problems for the baby, so Brooklyn went to the neonatal unit at Spectrum ~ Butterworth Hospital, where she underwent tests on several occasions. The baby was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Non Immune Hydrops Fetalia, which caused him to get edema and retain fluids throughout his body. Sadly, the family was given very little hope that the baby would survive once he was born. With such devastating news, Brooklyn and Karim needed the support of family, and they received it in abundance. During the month of December, Brooklyns mother Anna, sister Magan, her grandma Bea, plus Karim expressed their support by their presence and concern. Brooklyn had hoped to carry the baby to full term, but when complications occurred at 30 weeks, she decided to have a Cesarean Section. She wanted to give birth so that she might see her precious son alive. Cobe Clark Sanchez was born at 11:27 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2009. He was 16 inches in height and weighed 6 pounds. He lived for just 15 precious minutes. With the help of a wonderful staff at the hospital he was able to be held by his mother and father his Grandma Anna, Aunt Magan, Great-Grandma Bea and Uncle Donny. The families hearts are heavy with sadness yet full of love for their beloved Cobe. They include his mother, Brooklyn Sanchez; father Karim Clark; grandparents, Anna Sanchez, Daniel Botbyl, Ruby and Charles Clark; aunts and uncles, Magan Morningstar, Donald Nunez, Chucky, Omar, Caleb, Shateta Clark; great grandmother, Beatrice Walter; great aunt, Rosita Sanchez.
