Claude "Mitch" Mitchell

Claude "Mitch" Mitchell, age 83, passed away on November 5, 2008. He was born on April 6, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Fannie (Mason) and Claude Mitchell Sr. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step- father, Clarence Durga; three brothers, Ivan, LaVerne, and Eldon Durga; and a sister, Thelma Sheehy. Surviving are two sisters, Maryann (Fred) Stulp and Emeline Seeley; several nieces and nephews, a daughter, Karen; special friends, Harry and Dorothy Timmerman and the Edwin and Sandra Knapp family; and everyone at Herbie's Cafe. Mitch was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard Merchant Marines serving during World War II. He enjoyed doing genealogy research for both family and friends. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008, 3-5 p.m., at the Fruitport Eagles at the corner of Heights Ravenna and Dangl Road.
