Clarence J. Raugh died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Clarence 'C J' was born on December 3, 1928 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Eugene Michael Raugh and Nellie Arvilla Bolen. He was a member of the United State Air Force from February 7, 1946 thru August 7, 1947 when he received his Honorable Discharge. He worked several places in Mishawaka and moved to Whitehall, Michigan in the 1950's. He went to work at Howmet Corporation in September of 1953 and retired in October of 1993 after 40 plus years of service. CJ is survived by his children, Vicki Lynn Raugh, of Texas, Susan Kay (Jeffery) Hekkema, of Muskegon, Donna Marie (Randy) Maat, Michael Paul (Brenda) Raugh, Pamela Ann Havermans of Muskegon, and Bambi Lynn (William 'Bill') Wilson of Twin Lake; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren; a brother Harold (Mary) Raugh, of Oak Harbor, OH and Alice Genson of Twin Lake, Lillian Chapman, of Mishawaka, IN; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his best friend and caregiver, Patricia Ann, of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his son Eugene Michael Raugh on September 15, 1983, along with a sister and brother in law Garnet and William Runnells. CJ was a very dedicated worker for Gift of Life Michigan. CJ lost his oldest son Eugene Raugh in 1983 and he was an organ donor, then nine years later CJ became ill and had to have an Aortic Valve and Root Stem Transplant in 1992. After that operation he became involved in working with Gift of Life and our Local Lakeshore Transplant Support Group which has been around now for 15 plus years. He spoke to any group that wanted him anytime, anywhere. Right up until this past July he was active in speaking and promoting organ donation and has served faithfully for many years as President with the local Lakeshore Group. He was also a volunteer area 'VAL' leader for Western Michigan training folks for working with organ donation. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. CJ was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, 4381 S. Sheridan Drive, where a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Lakeshore Transplant Support Group, 1378 Cornell Ave, Muskegon, Michigan 49441, Trinity Baptist Church, or Harbor Hospice.
