Lang, Mrs.
Clara Louise
Holland, Michigan
Clara L. Lang was born on March 11, 1939 in Battle Creek, MI to Clyde J. Logan and Anna H. (Blackmore) Logan. Clara was adamant in her love to inspire and instruct young people which provided the incentive for achieving a high level of education. After graduating from Marshall High School, Clara went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts from Western Michigan University and a Masters of Arts and an Education Specialist degree from Michigan State University. Clara began her career educating for the Harper Creek and Warren Consolidated Schools until 1963. Because Clara had a heart for adventure and the bravery to act on her curiosity for diverse cultures and places, she then applied for and accepted an international teaching position for the Department of Defense school in Germany for three years. Seeking additional adventure and cultural experiences, she accepted similar duties for the Department in Brussels, Belgium for two years, Okinawa for one year, and finally Tokyo, Japan for her final two years. During these years, she took every opportunity to travel further abroad giving her a true world perspective. She returned home in 1972 and met and later married her husband of nearly 30 years, M. William Lang. During her marriage and until her passing, Clara used her knowledge, worldwide experience, and love of culture to provide leadership and perspective on the board of directors for the Muskegon Community College Foundation, West Michigan Symphony, Friends of the Symphony, Muskegon Museums Friends of Art, the Frauenthal Center, and Service League, just to name a few. Her service to the community earned her multiple awards and accolades. Her greatest gift to the world was always her sincere love and compassion for those around her.
Clara passed away October 31, 2023 following a brief stay in hospice.
Her beloved survivors include her daughter Anne Snider, granddaughter Elizabeth Snider, sister Betty (Mike) Dawson, brother Richard Logan, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband M. William Lang, son Mike Lang, sister Kathryn VandenHeede, brother Robert Logan, brother John and Mary Logan, and Natala Logan.
Clara had an additional "family" of close friends in whose lives she played the role of companion, friend, and confidant. A few of her special friends were Marv Thomas and family, Peter Turner, Wendy Kersman, Scott and Jean Wilbur, Hazel Whittaker, and Karla, Christy, Tisha, and Tracey Scheifele.
