Some people live long lives, scattered here and there with triumphs and achievements. Others, like Christopher Kado Davis, are granted a short time on earth, but are able to fill every day of their lives with energy, life and love. Always up to something, Chris was so full of vitality and happiness one couldnt help but love him. A friend too many, he shared the best of times with those around him and made numerous memories to be long remembered. Chris also had a more serious side, however - a deep store of generosity and love, from which he drew upon unsparingly to help his family, friends and anyone who was in need. Gone but never to be forgotten, he will be missed and treasured in the hearts of all who came to know and love him. The decade that gave us MTV, New Wave and Nintendo was the same one that also gave us Chris. It was a fast paced period in our nations history, when trends changed from minute to minute and one never knew what computers were going to be able to do next. It was into these exciting times that Christopher was born on October 23, 1985, to Donald and Rita (Eilers) Davis of Muskegon, Michigan. Chris enjoyed a typical childhood growing up on Staple Road in Twin Lake, while his parents both worked to give him everything he needed in life. His father worked at Muskegon Piston Ring and his mother at G.T.E / Verizon. As a young boy, Chris was very busy, curious and, much to his mothers dismay, a real daredevil. It wasnt unusual for her to look out the window and see Chris at the very top of a tall tree. He also liked playing T-ball and eventually soccer, starting with the Laketon Youth Soccer League, but he quit the sport at 16 when girls and cars became more important. He found his true passion when his father bought him his first mini bike, a Suzuki Grasshopper, and after that, he lived life in the fast lane. Chris became a self-taught tinkerer by tearing bikes apart and putting them back together, sometimes even better than originally. In time, he took things up a notch, and bought two Dodge Daytonas and used the parts from one to rebuild the other. His love of cars and bikes would stay with him throughout his life, influencing his career choices and providing him with some of his favorite pursuits. Chris had many friends he hung out with, but fostered an especially close relationship with his Uncle Mark. He was a good student in school, and was able to further his knowledge of cars by attending the Newaygo Vocational School while in high school, where he received his Brake Certification. He was always working on somebodys car, happy to help wherever he could. After Chris graduated from Whitehall High School in 2003, he worked a few odd jobs before deciding to attend the Motorcycle Mechanic Institute in Orlando, Florida, where he specialized in working on Harleys. He graduated in 2006, and returned home to Muskegon to start his career, working at Motorheads Motorcycle Shop for a time as well as Grand Rapids Harley Davidson. Chris was currently a motorcycle technician at Bros Manufacturing in Muskegon, where they specialized in custom built motorcycles. In addition to doing work that he loved, Chris accumulated countless biker friends that he enjoyed hanging around with. Chriss adventurous spirit overflowed to many of his favorite hobbies and pastimes too. Aside from cars and motorcycles, he liked to be in the great outdoors. Yearly camping at Sand Lake, boating on the Manistee River, tubing with his friends on the Muskegon River, or just hanging out with friends, having a good time. Recently, Chris started to learn to cook and was becoming quite good; though nothing topped his favorites Scribs Pizza or a good steak. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, but that was just who he was generous and kind to a fault. Chris was of man of many interests, but it was the moments he shared with those he loved that meant the world to him. In 2008, he delighted in becoming a father to his beautiful daughter, Makayla Leah Smith. He loved her beyond words, and he was devoted to being a good, loving father. Tragically, Chris died in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the age of 27. His absence will be deeply felt, his bright light extinguished much too soon. Chris is survived by his parents, Donald & Rita Davis of Twin Lake; daughter, Makayla Smith of Nevada; grandparents, Leo & Joyce Davis of Muskegon; many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at 1:00 p.m. at the Clock Chapel of Clock Life Story Funeral Homes - Muskegon with Rev. Ken Shady officiating. Interment at Fruitland Township Cemetery. Visitation is on Monday, May 13, from 4-7 p.m. at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. Memorial contributions may be made to Muskegon Rescue Mission.
