Christie Jensen

Ms. Christie "Chris" Ellen Jensen, age 66, passed away in her home on September 22nd, 2016. She was born 10/18/1949 in Muskegon, MI and lived here most of her life. She was a mother, grandmother, caterer, and had a large "extended family" of friends and honorary kids. She was passionate about her community, and volunteered on many city and neighborhood committees, including the Jaycees, the Leisure Service Board, Bluffton Beachwood Neighborhood Association and Festival Unified Network, Inc. She led the lighting of the town Christmas tree and brought Santa on a fire truck each year for over a decade in Hackley Park. She brought Laura the Elephant to Shoreline Spectacular so everyone could cheer her on as she swam in Lake Michigan. She loved dancing, singing, going to the beach, visiting with friends, working in her garden and cooking for her family. She was never afraid to be herself. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Nielsen in 2005 and father Charles Nielsen in 1991. She will be greatly missed by her sister Karen Nielsen Magerowski, her two sons Robert and Tony George, daughters-in-law Heidi George and Nicole George, and her 11 grandchildren; Brittany, Scott, Ashlie, Jeff, Robbie, Skye, Hannah, Thomas, Kadyn and Annabelle and her great-granddaughter Madison. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mona Lake Boat Club on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 from 4 - 7 PM. The family requests donations to help with the funeral expenses through a GoFundMe (gofundme.com/celebratechris) or in the form of a donation to Mary Free Bed Foundation in the name of Chris Jensen to 235 Wealthy St SE Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
