Cheryl Lynne (Kuerth) Barnum
Cheryl Lynne (Kuerth) Barnum, age 82, passed away on February 21, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin Barnum, and her brother, Max (Pam) Kuerth. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is once again by Calvin's side.
Cheryl was born on January 23, 1944, to Harold and Wanda Kuerth in Grand Traverse, Michigan. The oldest of six children, she carried her role as the big sister with pride throughout her life. She graduated from Grand Traverse High School in 1962 and soon after moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she worked as a nanny for a family friend. While there, she met Calvin Barnum, the love of her life. They were married on May 18, 1963, and built a life rooted in service, joy, and family.
Together, Cheryl and Calvin raised four children: Shannon (Garrett) Nash; Amy (Jeff) Heeney; Guy Barnum; and Calvin (Kristen) Barnum II.
She was the proud grandmother of Jacob and Zachary Nash; Mackenzie, Mckailah, Lily and, Aleah Barnum, and Greydon Barnum, as well as Jeffrey and Justin Heeney.
Cheryl was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Brady, Addisyn, and Tensley Nash.
She is survived by her siblings: Shelly (Joe) Brown; Mark (Lynn) Kuerth; Catherine/Katie (John) Town; and Harold/Joey (Diane) Kuerth.
She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will carry forward her memory.
A small celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fremont, Michigan located at 20 Sheridan, East Ave., Fremont, MI 49412.
Her children invite you to share memories and stories of Cheryl and how she touched the lives of others. They hope that in her passing, time will be spent smiling and laughing at a life well lived and that energy will go toward lifting others in memoriam
