Mr. Charles A. Thompson, age 79, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a veteran of WWII having proudly served in Germany. He was born in Grand Haven, Michigan on November 12, 1928 to Charles E. Thompson and Helen (Allendorfe) Thompson. He married the former Charlotte Rance in 1949. He was retired from Holland Motor Express as a long haul truck driver. He was a member of the Fruitport Eagles 3666 and VFW Post 7729 and the Teamsters Union. He leaves behind his wife Charlotte Thompson, four daughters, Connie (Jerry) Wing of Fruitport, Carol (Bob) Bostian, of Muskegon, Cheryl Thompson (Denny Hitsman) of Muskegon, and Cindy Thompson and her companion Ed Bagdon, of Spring Lake; a son, Curtis Thompson of Muskegon; a sister, Arloa Merz of Grand Haven; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter on the way. Also surviving is his step-mother, Helene Phillips of Muskegon; and five step-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, June (Fred) Warber of Grand Haven. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gift of Life or Charity of your choice. Our father will truly be missed but God needed him at this time. We love you Dad!
