Charles Edward Syers

SYERS, MR. CHARLES EDWARD Muskegon, MI Mr. Charles Edward Syers, loving husband of Kathleen, passed away on March 28, 2003 after a short illness. He was born on May 8, 1935, the youngest son of Adelbert Alexander & Manilla Dewey Monroe Syers. Growing up in rural Blue Lake Township, he attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse. He graduated from Holton High School in 1954. Labor Day weekend, 1957, he met his future bride, Kathleen L. Higby of Milford, MI at ''Jack & Jill' now Double J Ranch. The two were wed April 12, 1958 in Milford & later made their home in Montague, MI where they resided from 1960-1977. Stationed at Ft. Lee, VA, Charles served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps from 1958-1960. He worked as a meat cutter for many years in Whitehall, MI & Muskegon, MI & retired from Finishmaster Automotive Paint Stores in 1994. He was an avid Green Bay Packer & Chicago Cub fan. SURVIVORS Charles is survived by his wife, his five daughters, Jill Steve Clark of Cedar Hill, TX, Theresa Durkee of Grand Rapids, MI, Laura Robert Sikkenga of Twin Lake, MI, Cindy Ed Ruiz of New Berlin, WI & Mary Ann Syers of Lake Orion, MI; a sister, Marian Bevins of Montague, MI; a brother, Warren Syers of Muskegon, MI; nine grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. His parents, Adelbert & Manilla Syers, & a brother, Carl Sonny Syers, who died onboard ship while returning from the South Pacific in September 1944, preceded him in death. SERVICE A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas G. Simons officiating. Interment at Mt.
