MCCARTHY, MR. CHARLES ''CHUCKER'' Grand Haven, MI Mr. Charles ''Chucker'' McCarthy, age 77, died Monday, January 21, 2002 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. He was born in Grand Haven, MI on December 12, 1924 to George & Marie Moll McCarthy & married the former Joan Poe on February 25, 1949 in Grand Haven, MI. Mr. McCarthy had been employed as a Product Inspector for Oldberg Manufacturing & formerly co-owned & operated a service station with his brother, George. His other business ventures included property management, travel trailer rental, a snow plowing service & a bicycle & mower repair shop. Mr. McCarthy was a communicant of St. Anthony's Catholic Church & a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid walker, enjoyed garage sales, collecting antiques & was a Master Gardener. The McCarthy family extends special thanks to Dr. Daniel Power's & the North Ottawa Community Hospital Intensive Care Staff. SURVIVORS Wife, Joan; 2 sons, Michael Christine McCarthy & Bryan McCarthy, both of Grand Haven, MI; 3 daughters, Diane John Lisciandro of Santa Rosa, CA, Colleen Mark Gottman of Ypsilanti, MI & Laura Dave Deiters of Sun Prairie, WI; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 brothers, George Edna McCarthy, Pat Joanne McCarthy, both of Grand Haven, MI & Jim Dianna McCarthy of Hersey, MI; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Aart DeHeer & Sharon Mel Camp, both of Grand Haven, MI; brother-in-law, Al Poe of Hudsonville, MI; many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack McCarthy & by a sister, Kathleen Behm. SERVICE Thursday, January 24, 2002, 10:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Shea officiating. Interment at Grand Haven Township Cemetery. VISITATION Wednesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home - Grand Haven.
