MATTHEWS, MR. CHARLES J. N. Muskegon, MI Mr. Charles J. Matthews, age 90, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003. He was born in Sitka, MI on January 22, 1913 to George & Minnie Anderson Matthews & married Maxine Moon on February 9, 1946. Mr. Matthews served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had been employed as a Supervisor at Teledyne Continental Motors for 37 years until he retired in 1974. Mr. Matthews was a member of the Muskegon Elks, Elks Liars Club & American Legion Post #0397 of Holton. He played baseball & bowled for many years. SURVIVORS 2 sisters, Vivian Goosen of Blue Lake, MI & June George Brezinski of Muskegon, MI; 3 brothers-in-law, James Moon of Dearborn, MI, Martin Moon of MD & Thomas Moon of Croton, MI; 3 sisters-in-law, Rachel Matthews of Sitka, MI, Beatrice Kuyper of Grand Haven, MI & Margaret Moon of Brunswick, MI; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine on February 7, 1998; 1 sister, Margaret Monette & by 1 brother, Harvey Matthews. MEMORIAL SERVICE Monday, June 9, 2003, 1:00 PM at the Clock Chapel with Rev. Clifford Lones officiating. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery.
