SMITH, MR. CHARLES E. Norton Shores Mr. Charles E. Smith died Thursday, December 9th, 2004, ending his fight with cancer. His life ended at home in the presence of family. The family is very grateful for the assistance provided by the people of Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana. Mr. Smith was 67 years old. Mr. Smith was born to parents John and Velma Ransom Smith in Muskegon County where he resided his entire life. After graduating from Muskegon High School, Mr. Smith married his high-school sweetheart, Karen J. Morrison, and entered the electrical profession. Mr. Smith was a Master Electrician and long standing member of the I.B.E.W. Local #275. He worked for 25 years at Whittaker Electric, then for a few years at Strait Steel and Wire in Ludington, before starting his own business. Mr. Smith retired as president of S Associated Technology, Inc. and a member of the Michigan Professional Businessmen's Association to pursue other projects at his home in Norton Shores. Mr. Smith was a giving man. No matter what the project, he was there to provide support and lend a skilled hand. Mr. Smith enjoyed eight years in the Roosevelt Park Little League coaching the players of the Black Angus team. He enjoyed bowling, fishing with family, golfing with his friends, and the races. Mr. Smith was an avid NASCAR fan. But he is remembered most for the love he showed his family. Mr. Smith is remembered by his family as a warm and loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Karen; children Bradley and Cynthia Smith of Kalamazoo, Kelly and Michael Bricker of Grand Haven, Brian and Wendy Smith of Greensville, South Carolina, Patricia and Dennis Cramer of Kalamazoo; grandchildren Sara Smith, Benjamin Smith, Adam Bricker, Cameron Bricker, Mia Bricker, Briana Smith, Charlotte Smith, Andrea Steiner, Aimee Steiner; parents Paul and Josephine Morrison; brothers and sisters James and Betty Neel, Bradley and Deborah Hyde, Paul PJ and Carol Morrison; and loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Charles and Karen were married 47 years. He loved his family. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents John and Velma, and his brother John. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, 1-3 and 5-7 PM at Clock Funeral Home in Muskegon. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana. Funeral services for Mr. Smith are at Clock Chapel, Monday, December 13th, 2004, at 1:00 PM; Pastor Dennis Jackson officiating. Laketon Township Cemetery was chosen for internment.
