HASSELL, MRS. CHARLENA G. Muskegon Mrs. Charlena G. Hassell, age 81, died Saturday, October 6, 2001. She was born in Bristol, ME on February 22, 1920 to Charles R. & Idella Carter Gifford. Mrs. Hassell was raised by her grandmother on Louds Island, off the coast of Maine & was educated in the islands one room school house. She moved to Portland, ME & married James C. Hassell in 1938. Mrs. Hassell was a member of Community United Methodist Church & loved reading. SURVIVORS 2 sons, Clifford of Muskegon & William J. Rena of Lille, ME; 4 grandchildren, Cheryl Ted Baker of New ERa, MI, Jeffery Jodi Hassell of Muskegon, Jennifer Mike Graham of East Machias, ME & Benjamin of Lille, ME; 1 great-grandchild, Shane J. Hassell of Muskegon, MI; half-sister, Nellie Leeman of Round Pond, ME & 2 half-brothers, Joseph & Merle Gifford of Waldoboro, ME. She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1980 & by her brothers, Kenneth & Ernest Gifford. SERVICE A private family service will be held in South Portland, ME.
