Miss Celia Jean Winter, age 89, died Friday, March 9, 2007. She was born in Muskegon Heights, MI on September 22, 1917 to Fred & Hattie (Bolt) Winter. Celia was a graduate of Calvin College and was a teacher at Muskegon Christian Elementary for 44 years where she was known for her ability in teaching reading and her love of the children. She had a love of music, both hymns and classical. She was one of the organists at Immanuel CRC where she was baptized and made profession of her faith and to which congregation she felt strongly attached to, though for 35 years she has been a member of Bethany CRC. She loved writing pen pals, one of whom she wrote for 53 years before meeting her in Montana in 1988 and continued to write thereafter until Judy's death in 2004. She enjoyed her dogs, birds and nature. SURVIVORS She is survived by her longtime friend and companion, Dr. Mary Klesner, D.O.; 2 cousins, Elsie Shaw of Elmwood Park, NJ, Rudy (Phyllis) Haitmanek of West Paterson, NJ; 4 sisters, Maureen Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Jeanette Howard of Clark Lake, MI, Betty Grodowsky of Carlsbad, CA, Mary Barnes of Piscataway, NJ; 2 nieces, Loretta (Joseph) Pietrowicz of Somerset, NJ, Elaine Lake of Ionia, MI. SERVICE Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 2:00 PM at Bethany Christian Reformed Church with Rev. David Sieplenga officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION Tuesday, 1 hour prior to the service at Bethany Christian Reformed Church. MEMORIAL: Muskegon Christian Schools.
