Carstairs, Thelma

Mrs. Thelma Lake Carstairs, age 101, passed away peacefully October 13, 2006. Thelma was born on February 2, 1905 in Coldwater MI to Archibald and Bertha (Clark) Lake. She married Mr. Robert "Art" Carstairs in Muskegon on August 11, 1934; he preceded her in death in 1976. Thelma lived an exceptionally healthy and active life, continuing to play golf and ballroom dance until a few years ago. She was a member of the Eastern Star Genesis #88 and worked as a corporate secretary at Acme Industrial Products in Madison Hts., MI until retiring in 1970. Thelma accepted Christ as her Savior as a young lady. During the 1990's she was engaged to Mr. William Hanseman of Lighthouse Point, FL. Bill made Thelma a younger and more radiant person. They worshipped together at First Presbyterian Church, "the Pink Church," in Pompano Beach FL. Sadly, he passed away before they could marry. Mrs. Carstairs is survived by 2 sisters, Helen Vanderleest of N. Muskegon and Leona Cook of Venice, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles A. Lake and Richard Lake and sister, Peggy Zietlow. SERVICE: A celebration of Thelma's life will be held at the Lee Funeral Home, Tuesday, 11:00 AM. INTERMENT: She will be laid to rest in Mona View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to charity.
