Shirley Joyce Carrier passed away on December 11, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her two daughters Dawn Marie and Mary Ann, and a sister Elner Johnson. Shirley was born in Jackson, Michigan on March 10, 1935 and moved to Muskegon shortly thereafter. She was born to Elmer 'Red' McGeehan and Clara Toman Truax McGeehan Fredericks. Shirley was the younger of a set of twins born on that day. She is survived by her twin, Ellen Patricia Girtler of Sanford, Florida. Shirley worked for many years as a waitress at Presto Lunch, Drelles' Sandwich Shop, and Drelles' Restaurant. Shirley was a Stanley Home Products demonstrator for many years. She was a short-order cook for Sherman Bowling Center for 15 years and her last employment was as a lunch lady at Bunker Middle School through Chartwell. For many years Shirley was active in the East Muskegon Football Club as a secretary, treasurer and coach for the cheerleaders. She was also very active and held multiple offices in one of the Muskegon chapters of TOPS. Shirley leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, Donald William; two daughters, Rebecca Sue and Faith Ann; her grandson, Kenneth William Carrier and granddaughter, Stephenie Michelle Carrier, as well as one great grandson, her 'angel' Zachary Alexander Carrier. She was also tended to and survived by a very special niece, Michele Helvey and her family, Dan, Evan and Anna. She also leaves behind several people of significance to the Carrier Family, Maureen 'Mo' Kass, Darla Wortley, Connie and Lori Johnson; the women on her bowling team and league; and family pet, 'Jolly'. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Wings of Mercy, 513 E. 8th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Funeral Services will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel 1783 E. Keating Ave., on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held, at the funeral home, on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
