Carolyn E. Colburn

Mrs. Carolyn Eloise Colburn, age 91, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 3, 1926 to Sidney & Eleanor (Liefer) Hamstra and married Clifford Colburn on March 14, 1947. Mrs. Colburn had been employed as a secretary for Muskegon Heights Middle School for years until retiring. Carolyn was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church Muskegon and enjoyed helping in the church, reading, puzzles, table games, golf, camping, sewing, canning and freezing. SURVIVORS Children, Sandy (Gene) Keirnan, Gordon (Kathy) Colburn, Dennis (Sherry) Colburn, Rande (Helen) Colburn; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Colburn; sisters-in-law, Betty Hamstra & Grace Colburn; many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 2016; son, Alan Colburn; great granddaughter, Savannah; sister, Mary (Henry) Kessler & brother, Sydney Hamstra Jr. SERVICE Thursday, March 16, 2017, Noon with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Muskegon with Pastor Jason Sliger officiating. Interment in Fruitport Cemetery. MEMORIAL: American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or American Epilepsy Society.
