For Carlotta Rademaker, life was about living and she loved to experience and appreciate the world around her. Carlotta did many things in her life, all of which shaped her into the person her family and friends loved dearly. Carlotta was born on June 2, 1919, to Frank and Jessie Ames, in the small town of Beaverton, Michigan. Along with her three brothers and sister, Carlotta grew up on their family farm, where her mother kept strict order and ran a tight ship. After high school, Carlotta decided to spread her wings and start on a new adventure by enlisting in the U.S. Army. She honorably served for four years, during which time she worked at the Pentagon as an Air Traffic Controller. A woman in this position at that day and age wasnt a common sight, and Carlotta took great pride in her work. It was during her military tour that Carlotta met her wonderful husband, Clarence Stormy Rademaker. Stormy was serving in the Merchant Marines at the time, and they both were on leave in New York City when they crossed paths. The two fell in love and were happily married in Hoboken, New Jersey. After being discharged, Carlotta and Stormy moved to New Mexico and settled into married life together in Albuquerque. Here, Stormy went to work, driving for Greyhound Bus, and whenever he did a charter trip, Carlotta went along for the adventure. The two loved traveling and had visited many exciting and beautiful places on these trips, including Alaska. Every year, the couple also took a trip back to Michigan to visit relatives and Stormys daughter, Gale. After some time, the couple moved to Missouri and lived on a farm. During this time, Carlotta said she never canned so many green beans in her life. In 1979, Carlotta and Stormy decided to move back to Michigan and made their permanent residence in Muskegon. Carlotta was such a benevolent lady and was always looking for ways to help others. One way was through her volunteering at Hackley Hospital; she worked in the admitting office for 27 years and took patients to their rooms. Perhaps because of military life, Carlotta was always meticulous when it came to keeping her house clean and things organized. Sadly, Carlotta lost her beloved husband Stormy in 1992. In recent years, she had been spending lots of time with her nephew, Jerry Ames, and his wife, Marcia, who were very special to her heart. Carlotta lived an exciting and full life and she enjoyed sharing her wonderful adventures with her loved ones and friends. All who knew Carlotta will treasure her memory. Carlotta Rademaker, age 88, passed away on June 28, 2007 at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stormy; her brothers, Don, Ted and Richard Ames; and her sister, Dorothy McNeal. She is survived by her daughter, Gale (Chuck) McDonald; four grandchildren, Jeff & Lisa Lee, Aaron & Shawnee Lee, Ben & Beth Lee, Bob & Darbie Marsh; seven great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews, and a special niece and nephew, Jerry & Marcia Ames & their children Steve (Karen) Ames, Marcia (Joe) Hunter, Carla (Dave) Barnett, Liz (Tom) Ball.
