Mr. Carl "Bob" Asselmeier Sr., age 83, died Friday, August 31, 2012. He was born in Valmeyer, IL on October 4, 1928 to Carl W. & Anna M. (Fischer) Asselmeier & married the former Alice Coletta on April 17, 1953. Mr. Asselmeier served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed as a Postmaster at the North Muskegon Post Office for 34 years until retiring in 1988. He was a longtime member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church, life member of Masonic Lodge #140 & American Legion Grand Haven, past member of Muskegon Elks and Muskegon Lions. Mr. Asselmeier was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading, but foremost his family. SURVIVORS Wife, Alice; 3 sons, Carl Jr. (Elizabeth) of Spring Lake, Richard of Muskegon & Alan (Kelly) of Plainwell, MI; 1 daughter, Kay (Troy) Mumby of Spring Lake; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Carl III, Lenny, Rebecca, Katelyn, Sara, John & Alicia; 2 great grandchildren, Lyla & Jasper. 3 brothers, Clifford of IL, Clinton of OR & Darryl (Janet) of MO. SERVICE Thursday, September 6, 2012, 11:00 AM at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church with Rev. Dr. Gerald Wahr officiating. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
