Calvin John Peterson

Calvin John Peterson, age 82, passed away on October 18, 2007 in Muskegon, MI. He was born January 7, 1925 in Ludington, MI to George and Alma (Leafstrand) Peterson. Calvin attended North Muskegon High School and was in the U.S. Army stationed in the Southern Philippines. He married Cereda Barbour on November 24, 1950 in Muskegon, MI at the bride's home. Cereda preceded Calvin in death on February 13, 2003. Calvin was employed by Teledyne-Continental Motors in Muskegon and was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church, Service 1 Credit Union and the Viking Linne Lodge # 57. He is survived by 3 sisters, Mary Moore of North Muskegon, MI, Georgia (Kenneth) Nelson of Banning, CA, Alice Kolberg of Scottville, MI; his sister-in-law, Sondra (Dick) Sullivan of Republic, MO; several nieces, nephews; and his special friends, John & Maxine Jolman and Harold and Darlene Brown. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cereda; 1 brother, William Peterson; brothers-in-law, William Moore and Clayton Kolberg. A Memorial Service for Calvin will be held on Thursday,Oct 25th at Samuel Lutheran Church located at 540 Houston Ave. in Muskegon at 11:30 am with Pastor Lewis Glick officiating. There will be no visitation prior to service time. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the Viking Linne Lodge # 57 located at 3132 Lakeshore Drive in Muskegon. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers for Calvin may be directed to the Samuel Lutheran Church located at 540 Houston Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441 or a charity of Choice.
