Mr. Bruce Raymond, age 74 passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born in a tar paper shack in Trent, Casnovia Township, Muskegon County, Michigan on May 4, 1940. He graduated from Saginaw High School and served in the U.S. Navy for over five years. One of his biggest adventures in life was "wintering over" with Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica 1960-1961. He was with the Arlington Country Police Department for several years prior to his employment with the federal government. He and Julia met while they were attending the Foreign Service Institute. After a 10-day courtship, they married on September 18, 1969, and they spent several years in Nicosia, Cyrus. Upon returning to the states Bruce joined the Muskegon County Sheriff's Department from which he retired after 27 years of service. He was an active member of the Fruitport Lions and served several years as a trustee for the village of Fruitport. Bruce loved Pomona Park and was considered a "jack of all trades" thoroughly enjoying woodworking, photography and fishing. SURVIVORS Bruce is survived by7 his wife, Julia; brother Stanley (Audrey) Raymond; sisters: Mary Ann (Fred) Cargill, Carol Lance, Laurene (Carl) Turnipsee, Alice (Robert) Franzen and Lisa (Jeff) Anderson. Sister-in-law, Jackie Foster, Jean Lewallen and Jane Gagg. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Robert (Winifred) Raymond and Mertie (Charles) Ramsey and his most beloved grandparents Leroy and Mertie Stanley, as well as his brother-in-law, Mike Humphreys. SERVICE A private service will be held.
