Bonnie Jean Sheehy, 79, of Whitehall, Michigan, passed away at home under the compassionate care of Harbor Hospice on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Born on March 9, 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan, Bonnie was a devoted mother and a feisty, resilient spirit who met life's challenges with stubborn determination. A longtime resident of the Whitehall area, she worked for many years as a housekeeper at the Lakeland Motel, where her diligence and pride in a job well done were well known. Earlier in life, she also spent time working in local factory positions.
Bonnie was happiest at home, where she loved watching the news-especially WZZM 13 and Fox-and programs about cabin living and the outdoors, like Alaska Living and Mountain Men. Even in her later days, she found comfort in the simple pleasures of television and a favorite treat-ice cream-often enjoyed from Twisters in Montague or a shake from Culver's.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Wiegand, Richie Sheehy, and Tanya (Brandon) Whitener; five grandchildren-Jordan, Cameron, Richie, Kaylee, and Richard "Ricky"; and her siblings Dave Wiegand, "Butch" Wiegand, Debbie Prowant, and Patricia Booher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn (Brooks) Wiegand and her siblings Linda and Billy. Bonnie's eldest son, Brian Wiegand, has been missing since March 13, 2026, and remains in the thoughts and prayers of the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at a local church in Holton or Whitehall. Details will be announced by the family when arrangements are finalized.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Clock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to honor Bonnie by enjoying a favorite ice cream treat or by spending a quiet evening at home with the shows she loved.
