Beverly Buehrle was a wife, a mother and a grandmother lovingly known as GranB. To Beverly, life wasnt about achievements or accomplishments, but about love; love for both her God and her family. Known as the Roaring Twenties, the 1920s were a groundbreaking time for culture in our nation as speakeasies, flappers, and innovative sounds of jazz were all the rage. Lorenzo and Daisy (Scholten) Hall, of Muskegon, Michigan were preparing for the landscape to change within their own family as well, as Daisy was due to give birth to their fifth child at any time. They were indeed blessed on March 28, 1924 with the healthy birth of their daughter, Beverly. These were difficult times for many young families in America as the nation was firmly held in the grip of the Great Depression and Beverlys family was no exception. Beverly often mentioned the hard times they had. Beverly grew up in a home on 5th St. in Muskegon where she and her five siblings were raised within the context of a strong Methodist foundation. Beverly developed a love for dancing at an early age and attended Muskegon High School where she became part of the graduating class of 1942. After graduating from high school, Beverly found employment at Brunswick Corporation, a manufacturer of various products within the worlds of bowling, billiards, and more in Muskegon. Her life would take an eventful turn a bit later when she went to the Blue Heaven Dance Hall with her friend Ann and was introduced to an intriguing man named Bill Buehrle. It was love at first sight for Bill who couldnt steer his eyes away from Beverlys long blonde hair, even though they were at a dance surrounded by many others. Over the next several months Beverly and Bill attended many more dances together in both Chicago and Muskegon, especially at the Mona Lake Boat Club. The young couple fell deeply in love and was united in marriage on August 4, 1945 at the Central United Methodist Church in Muskegon. After a honey moon trip to Niagara Falls, the couple settled into a home on Laketon Ave. in Muskegon where they would be blessed with the births of three of their six children. After building a new home on Osceola Dr., the couple was blessed with three more children. This house would be where Beverly would call home for the majority of her life. Bill worked at the Norge Corporation while Beverly stayed home. Beverly kept busy with her young family and she attended many of their school and athletic functions. There where many fond memories made at their cottage on Lake Michigan where the family would often gather during the summers. They were also members of the Mona Lake Boat Club where they would attend many parties and holiday celebrations with extended family. Beverly found time to pursue some of the things that she enjoyed as well. She as an avid reader and loved the beauty of creation, often spending time just taking in the sights, sounds, and smells that could be found right outside her front door. Beverly enjoyed spending time with their good friends and family, the Hutchins, Norbergs, and Tylers. Together they often went on picnics, to dances, to Pere Marquette Park, and Pigeon Hill, located near Whitehall and Montague. Staying true to her childhood roots, Beverly maintained a strong faith and was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. When her first grandchild Kristi was born in 1979, Beverly was delighted and would be thrilled again six more times with the births of additional grandchildren. She was also a grandparent to three of her daughter Claudias step children. Beverly was so pleased to see the legacy that had come forth from that night at the Blue Heaven many years ago. Life was not always easy for Beverly, however, as her husband Bill experienced two heart attacks and at the age of 68, he died of congestive heart failure. Beverly leaned on both her family and her faith during these most difficult days. Beverly truly missed her beloved Bill. As a widow at the age of 52, she learned how to drive and write checks for the first time, becoming more independent each day. Beverly continued to preservere through trials when she became a cancer survivor. In 2000, declining health forced Beverly to move in with her son Jeff and his wife Jane, allowing them to help Beverly as she needed. Then in 2002, Beverly moved into assisted living at Waldon Woods in Grand Rapids where she could receive the more hands on care that she required. In her latter years Beverly Buehrle always enjoyed visits and phone calls from her family and her children living in Michigan, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Florida. She had a quiet spirit, but was not afraid to speak her mind. Beverly spent a lifetime making memories with those she held most dear; memories which will be forever etched on the hearts of those she leaves behind. Beverly J.
