Obituary

Betty Jane Kraai, born December 31, 1931, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving children and family.

Betty is survived by her four children: Eileen (John) Schrader, Terri (Larry) Williamson, Tom (Barb) Schalk, and Kim (Ron) Miklosovic; and her stepchildren: Denice (Don) Nelson, Terri (Kim) Jamison, and Duane (Kathy) Kraai.

She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Buys; her brothers Norman, Charles, Russell, William, Leonard, George, and Phil; and her sister Irene.

Betty was first married to Richard Schalk. She later remarried Vern Kraai, with whom she shared many years.

She worked for many years as a secretary at Continental Motors, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Betty lived a full and vibrant life. She had a love for travel, gardening, and golfing, but most of all she cherished time spent with her family. She found great joy in attending family activities and making lasting memories with those she loved.

She was also an enthusiastic fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on.

Above all, Betty was a strong woman of faith. She was a longtime member of Laketon Bethel Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life.

Betty will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
