Betty Virginia Gunn, age 75, died early Wednesday morning, November 26, 2008, in Muskegon. She was born May 7, 1933 in Summitville, TN to Arling Gordon & Nellie (Petty) Freeze; and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1967. Betty was a community business woman who had owned and operated Northwest Shooters Supplies for 35 years, prior to her retirement in 1996. The happiest time in Betty's life was as an active member of Central Assembly of God where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, served as President of the Women's Auxiliary and as head of its Mission Board. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Marvin "Alex" Gunn of Irving, TX, Terri (George) Munson of Lewisville, TX, Deborah Spofford of Muskegon and Robert "Chris" (Lori) Gunn of Twin Lake, MI; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and by 2 sisters, Kathryn (William) Myers and Carolyn (Robert) Geik, both of Niles, MI. SERVICES will be 3 PM Saturday, November 29, 2008 at The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street with Rev. Dr. Gordon Aikin officiating. Burial will be in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. VISITATION with Betty's family will be 6-8PM Friday. MEMORIAL GIFTS to the American Red Cross will be appreciated.
