Betty L. Eder

Mrs. Betty L. Eder, age 78, passed away Friday evening, March 14, 2008. She was born May 11, 1929 in Nahma, MI to Percy and Yvonne (Bedard) Stratton and had resided in the Muskegon area most of her life. Mrs. Eder was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School and had worked for Muskegon Catholic Central High School as the secretary for the Athletic Director for 12 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, was an avid bridge player, enjoyed reading, and especially loved raising her family. On June 12, 1948 she married Frank J. Eder in Muskegon Heights, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1980. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Thomas (Sue Cloutier) Eder of Powder Springs, GA, David (Lynne) Eder of Grand Rapids; 3 daughters, Cindy (Steven) Anderson, Barbara (Gary) Versalle both of Norton Shores, Sheri (Joe) Vig of Jenison; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Buck Stratton of Fremont, Bill (Brenda) Stratton of Ravenna; 2 sisters, Pat Schaner of Roosevelt Park, Judy (Ross) Totten of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Hanek. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Muskegon County Catholic Education Foundation or the American Red Cross - Transportation Fund.
