GREENMAN, Ms

Betsy Ellen

Betsy Ellen Greenman, went to be with her savior on Thursday, May 22, 2025. She was born on July 4, 1937, in Lawton, MI, to Byron and Clara Dunham. She later moved to Nunica, after marrying Frederick Stewart on November 12, 1955. She worked at Gardner Denver, and later at Fruitport Schools as a classroom aide in the special education rooms, and a noon monitor in the lunchroom.

Years later, she moved to South Haven where she married Danny Greenman on August 18, 1984. She worked in his State Farm Insurance office for years. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in South Haven and also belonged to the South Haven Moose Lodge. She enjoyed trips up north to the family cabin for duck and deer hunting seasons. A quick trip to the casino, working on puzzles, gardening, watching birds at her bird feeder, attending bible study, and watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and NCIS were some of her favorite things to do. She was also an avid fan of knitting dishcloths, baby blankets, baby sweaters, and mittens for all of the grandkids.

Our family would like to extend our deep appreciation to the Lakeshore Assisted Living staff who were more like family to mom and all of us since November. Though we did not know you long, your kindness and support has meant more to us than you will ever know. We would also like to thank the Gentiva Hospice staff who took care of mom the last few days of her life. You all knew exactly what needed to be done for both mom and our family, and kept us informed of every step of her final journey.

Betsy is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Mike) Piper, Kathy (Bill) Perysian, and son, John (Janet) Stewart, grandchildren, Rachel Peterson, RaeLyn (Cody) Patterson, Autumn (David) Hazekamp, Travis (Isabelle) Bradfield, Jessica Stewart and great grandchildren, Addie and Avery Hazekamp, Miles, Cole and Reid Patterson, Macy, Brady, Ellie and Kynlee Peterson, and Wren and baby sister Bradfield who will be arriving soon. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dan Greenman, and a sister, Nancy Cramer.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. For those wishing to make an expression of sympathy, please consider donating to either Lakeshore Assisted Living or Gentiva Hospice.
