SHELTON, MR BERNARD J. Mr. Bernard J. Shelton, age 79, died Saturday, April 10, 2004. He was born in North Baltimore, Ohio on August 27, 1924 to Clay & Viola Lahman Shelton and married the former Ruth J. Stewart on July 26, 1945 in Manteno, IL. Mr. Shelton had been employed as a Quality Assurance Inspector with the United States Department of Defense for 37 years until retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Charles Conklin Post 28. His interests included enjoying the out of doors, being a great neighbor helping where he saw a need, bowling, Boy Scout Leader, Baseball Coach, tinkering with things and was an avid boater, being a member and past commodore of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Michigan Group. Bernard also served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. SURVIVORS Son, Scott Jill Shelton of Fruitport; 2 daughters, Merry Lou Jim Bramer of Spring Lake and Patricia Bernard Kraai of Virginia Beach, VA; 9 Grandchildren, Emily, Jessica and Hannah Shelton, Tara Deverney, Jeffery and Beau Bramer, Ryan, Glenn and Sara Kraai; 6 Great Grandchildren, Kennedy, Payton, Breckin and Kreegan Deverney, Jacob Kraai and Catalina Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 1987, a son, Jeffrey in 1954 and by his brothers. SERVICE Wednesday, April 14, 2004, 11:00 AM at Clock Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel K. Anderson officiating. Interment at Lake Forest Cemetery, with Military Rites by American Legion Post 28 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2326. Visitation will be Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home. MEMORIAL: Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
