Mr. Leonard J. "Lenny" Berdinski, age 89, passed away Friday, November 24, 2006 in Muskegon. He was born in Owosso, MI on January 1, 1917 to Anthony and Caroline (Lapinska) Berdinski and was a resident of the Muskegon area for most of his life. Mr. Berdinski was a Veteran of the United States Army and had served in the South Pacific during WWII. After his service in the Army, he worked at Brunswick Corporation for 43 years before retiring in 1980. Mr. Berdinski was a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Muskegon Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He was a member of Lincoln Golf Club and VFW Post #8846. Lenny lived a full 89 years of life and his competitive nature made him addicted to sports and staying active. He had been a great athlete in his youth, winning such honors as American Bowling Congress tournaments, the Golden Gloves for his weight class, and was an outstanding baseball player. In addition to boxing and bowling, he was an avid golfer and fisher. Lenny was very meticulous about his yard. He enjoyed cutting his grass and gardening. On September 28, 1946, he married the former June Gundy and together celebrated 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, June; 2 sons, James (Joann) Berdinski, Leonard "Lee" (Debbie) Berdinski, Jr.; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Berdinski, Rebecca Berdinski-Marshall; great grandson, Caleb Berdinski-Marshall; niece and nephews, Barb Bialik, Phillip Berdinski, Gary Berdinski and spouses and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Michael Berdinski; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. SERVICES will be 3PM Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 VISITATION will be held from 5-8PM Monday with the ROSARY PRAYED at 5PM. INTERMENT will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mr. Berdinski's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
