Beatrice Austin

Mrs. Beatrice Marie Austin, age 90, passed away at Village of the Oaks on April 18, 2007. She was born on May 25, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Helsom and Carrie Haberstroh Helsom; grandson, James Howard Johnson; sister, Carol Anderson; and brother, Francis Helsom. She is survived by her husband, Howard V. Austin, of 72 years of marriage; her children: Karen (Larry) Johnson of North Muskegon, Larry H. (Sandra) Austin of Spring Lake, and Tom R. Austin (Roberta Dardi) of Spring Lake; grandchildren: Michael (Bridget) Austin of Mesa, Arizona, Jeffrey (Ruthann) Austin of Anchorage, Alaska and Pamela Bea (Michael) Kraley of Muskegon; 7 great-grandchildren: Jack and Erik Austin of Mesa, Arizona, Katie and Tyler Austin of Anchorage, Alaska, Matthew, Megan and Emily Kraley of Muskegon. Bea enjoyed being a homemaker and had a great love for her family and friends. She and Howard enjoyed over 20 years at their condo on Anna Maria Island, Florida. She was a Hackley Hospital volunteer for 25 years and belonged to a Hackley Circle and Hume Home Circle. Bea was a member of Community United Methodist Church of North Muskegon. She and Pearl Halmond made the Bar-B-Q's for many years for the Community United Methodist Church Ice Cream Social. She bowled, golfed and loved playing bridge and canasta. Her beautiful smile that would light up a room will be greatly missed by all. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Community United Methodist Church, 1614 Ruddiman Ave., North Muskegon, on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Robert Lynch officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice or Community United Methodist Church.
