Barbara Louise Heykoop, age 90, of Norton Shores, a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area, passed away on September 30, 2026, at her home.
Born Barbara Clark on May 31, 1936, to Frank and Irene (Link) Clark, she was raised on a farm where she developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. She was known for her vibrant red hair, which she elegantly wore in a French twist, and cherished visits with her hairdresser and dear friend, Sherra Bass. Barbara was an avid fisherwoman and hunter who enjoyed many years of camping with her family, especially at their cottage in Hart, Michigan. She retired from Enterprise Brass after a career in quality control and was a member of a shuffleboard league and the Lakeside Eagles. She also loved to travel, taking her children on road trips and later visiting the Bahamas and Hawaii. At home, she was devoted to her beloved poodles, Meathead, Zandi and Snufi. Though she did not regularly attend a physical church, she was a woman of deep faith.
Barbara is survived by her children, Pam Brandow, Linda (Ted) Pate, and Richard Wannamaker; her sister, Lulu "Penny" West; her grandchildren Sheila Najdowski, Daniel Bell, Christy Apple, Rebecca Wilcox, Richell Skirnski, Tabitha Reames, and Cheyenne, Jennifer Heykoop, Daniel Heykoop Jr, Amy Heykoop, Beth Heykoop. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Heykoop; two sons, Randy Wannamaker and Tim Wannamaker; a stepson, Edward Heykoop; and her siblings Ernie, James, Arthur, Buddy, Frank, and Roger Clark.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Clock Funeral Home. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. An online tribute wall is available on the funeral home website where memories and photos can be shared.
