Mrs. Barbara L. Gibner, age 87, passed away at Christian Care Nursing Center, Saturday, May 12, 2012 after a long illness. She was born in Muskegon, MI on November 14, 1924 to Glenn & Florence (Scott) Elliott and married Ernest J. (Gyebnar) Gibner on August 7, 1943. Mrs. Gibner had been employed as a medical office manager and after her retirement in 1976 she spent her time as a sewing and tailoring instructor. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, past member of the YWCA Board of Directors, Muskegon Exchangettes and frequent volunteer for the Salvation Army. Barbara was an expert knitter and seamstress. She also loved to crochet and made many items for donation to local charities and her church. She loved to travel, bowl and golf. But foremost was always her family. SURVIVORS Husband of 68 years, Ernest; children, Barbara (Manuel) Butzow, Richard (Sue) Gyebnar, William (Barbara) Gibner; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. SERVICE Monday, May 21, 2012, 11:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Central United Methodist Church with Pastor Diane Gordon officiating. MEMORIAL: Central United Methodist Church.
