Barbara Joy "Bonnie" VanderVelde, age 93, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 4, 1930 to John & Violet (Armstrong) Bonifield and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1949. She married Willard "Bill" VanderVelde on May 26, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2014. Mrs. VanderVelde had been employed as the head Bookkeeper for Muskegon Bank and Trust for over 40 years until retiring. Bonnie was very involved with the Living With Cancer support group and hosted many elaborate, themed pool parties in her backyard for the group over the years. She doted on her three grandchildren and especially loved watching old black and white horror movies with the girls, never failing to make them jump at the quiet, scary parts. Bonnie also enjoyed the company of her cats throughout her life.

Son, Clayton (Kathleen) VanderVelde; grandchildren, Andrew "Drew" VanderVelde, Meagan VanderVelde, Susan (Joshua) Smith; great-grandchildren, Estelle VanderVelde, Rosalind Smith; brother, Ken (Teresa) Bonifield; dear sister-in-law, Barbara Bonifield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Larry and Gordon.

Wednesday, February 28, 2024, 11:00 AM at Clock Funeral Home. Interment in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
