FAIRFIELD, MRS. AUDREE MAE Muskegon, MI Mrs. Audree Mae Fairfield, age 80, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002. Born on February 7, 1922 in Howell, MI, she was the daughter of John & Bessie Marineus Skidmore. She graduated from Muskegon High School in June of 1940 & married her husband, Russell B. Fairfield on November 26, 1942. A homemaker, Mrs. Fairfield was also an accomplished artist, having been a charter member of & served as secretary of the Muskegon Arts Society of which she was recently awarded a life membership. Talented in watercolors, she won the Grumbacker Award of Excellence for her watercolors. She also worked with acrylics, oils & pastels having done portraits, landscapes, etc. Her work has been shown at the Betty Clark Cannon Gallery, Rackum Hall at the University of Michigan, the North Muskegon Library, Grand Haven Community Center, Norton Shores Library, the Muskegon Women's Club as well as many one person art shows & exhibits. Mrs. Fairfield taught adult enrichment classes in art at Nims, Bunker & McLaughlin Schools in addition to countless other places. She was a member of the Elkettes of the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274 & was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked many places until her later years when she needed to curtail some of her activities. Having a love for the outdoors, Mrs. Fairfield also took joy in gardening, ice skating, camping & hiking. SURVIVORS Loving wife of 59 years, mother, grandmother & friend, Audree is survived by her husband, Russell; 2 sons, Brent Jenny Fairfield of Manchester, MI & Stephen Debra Fairfield of Keller, TX; 3 grandchildren, Damon, Julie & Jonathan & by her sister, Barbara Dillon of LaMesa, CA. A person of a loving & caring character all of her life, she will be deeply missed by many relatives, friends, neighbors, art associates & loved ones.
