Arthur Ray Morse was born on November 2,1931 in Muskegon, Michigan to Jay Landon Morse and Dorothy Delta (Hughes) Morse. Art was the last of 8 children and was born at the start of the Great Depression, spending most of his childhood living in tents or what he described as a dirt floor "shack". Art's father died when he was just 16, followed by his mother when he was 19. The same year, he married Virginia "Ginny" Lee (Baker) on November 21,1952 beginning a lifelong love story that lasted for 69 years . Art proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. Along the way he and Ginny had 7 children and a very loving family life. Art was very handy and did large remodel projects on the homes they owned. He began his own company, Morse & Sons Mobile Home Repair and spent many years working with his son until his retirement.


In their retirement years, Art and Ginny lived in Bradenton, Florida, moved back to Hesperia, Michigan for a time, before moving to Corvallis, Oregon. Art had a wonderful sense of humor and was known by many of his grandchildren as Granda Adorable. Most mornings you could find Art listening to Ginny sing and play her guitar, reading his Bible. time in prayer and enjoying the flower gardens. Art was very active in church and taught Adult Sunday School classes. He enjoyed reading, building model airplanes, and building birdhouses. remodel projects for Ginny and making pancakes for his family. He cherished time spent with family, but especially the love of his life, his "Hottie", Ginny.


At the age of 92, Art passed away in Grand Haven, Michigan on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Dorothy Morse, his wife, Virginia Morse, and 7 siblings, Levi John, Mary (Lynch), Glen, Sara (Sniff), Cora (Kurburski), William, and Doris. Art is survived by his children Sharon (Ken) Polidan, Theresa Griffith, Keith (Angie) Morse, Rodney (Dixie) Morse, Virginia (Scott) Visser, Jolynn Morse, Lainey (Sean Scorvo) Morse; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
