Mr. Arthur M. "Art" Burkall, age 88, died Thursday, December 8, 2011. He was born in Muskegon on June 3, 1923 to Peter & Marie (Schmidt) Burkall and married the former Delores Balkema. Mr. Burkall had served his country in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WWII. He had been employed as a Printer at Shaw Walker for 35 years. He was a charter member of Westwood Reformed Church, a member of the Danish Brotherhood, VFW Post #3195, DAV, and the Muskegon Conservation Club. He was an avid hunter & fisherman and also enjoyed gardening, leisure time at the river, and traveling, but foremost was always his family. SURVIVORS 3 sons, Rex (Cindy) of Nunica, Chris, Scott (Lori), both of Muskegon; daughter, Dawn Falkowski of North Muskegon; 13 grandchildren, Mandie, Hunter, Casey, Chad, Tracy, Roni, Holli, Samantha, Dana, Cady, Madison, Ryan, Travis; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Alvin Burkall of St. Joe, MI; 2 sisters, Norma Tyler, Audrey Neiser, both of Muskegon; Hoek (Joyce) Hoeksema of Montague. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores in September, 2011; son, Michael. SERVICE Monday, December 12, 2011, 11:00 AM at Westwood Reformed Church with Rev. Scott VanArendonk officiating and military honors. Interment at Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION Monday, 1 hour prior to the service at Westwood Reformed Church. MEMORIAL: Westwood Reformed Church.
