BOURZIEL, MR. ARNOLD ERIC Muskegon, MI Mr. Arnold Bourziel, a gentleman with a passion for music, deep devotion to God, and love for his family, died Saturday, March 22, 2003. He was born in Detroit, MI, on November 22, 1908, to Eric and Selma Koppin Bourziel, and married the former Esther M. ''Skipper'' Leypoldt in Oak Park, IL, on November 6, 1937. Mr. Bourziel earned three degrees in music and education at Wayne State University, and the degree of Master of Arts at University of Michigan. He was an Associate, American Guild of Organists. His musical career spanned many states, and eventually the Bourziels settled in West Michigan, where Arnold was Organist/Choirmaster at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. In addition, he was Music Director Emeritus at Temple B'nai Israel after serving there for 23 years. He also served First Congregational Church in Fremont for 19 years as Organist/Choir Director, and was Organist Emeritus at Community United Methodist Church, North Muskegon. Sharing their love of music and passion for education, Arnold and Esther were on Faculty and Staff of Interlochen National Music Camp for many years. He was active in Rotary Club; Past President of Torch Club and West Shore Symphony Board; and a founder, first Dean, and Dean Emeritus of the Lakeshore Chapter of American Guild of Organists. Arnold was also retired from Mona Shores School System. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Anne Rev.Dr.Theodore Sirotko of Whitehall, MI; four grandchildren: Maryanne LTC John, III Sirotko-Turner of Las Vegas, NV; Kathleen David Bower of Oberlin, OH; Stephen Sirotko of Pompano Beach, FL; Michael Angela Sirotko of Muskegon, MI; and great-granddaughter, Eva Mary Bower; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Esther, in January of 1994, and his two sisters, Phyllis Gaines and Alice Beamer.
